Though teaching and research takes up most of my time, I also work as a writer, editor, or communication consultant as often as I can. Mostly, I’ve spent a lot of time in entrepreneurial ecosystems. For example, I spent most of 2022 gathering data at Start-Up Chile, which is one of the top business accelerators in the world, and I also spent a year as a member of a startup company called FlykeART where I developed pitches, wrote social media content and grants, and conducted research. Other noteworthy positions I have held include developing educational video content for Purdue’s globally recognized Online Writing Lab, compiling and editing research reports at Purdue’s Center for Science of Information, and working for Pearson Education in a several capacities, including working on textbooks such as Technical Communication Today and Argument Today with Pearson author (and chair of my dissertation committee) Richard Johnson-Sheehan.
