Research

My research interests have expanded over time. Initially, I was drawn to entrepreneurship communication as I wanted to understand how entrepreneurs address complex societal issues through innovation. But then, as I began working and becoming friends with these professionals, I started to realize how much of what was commonly discussed amongst them was unknown to the scholarship that I was getting acquainted with. Given my affinity for field research, I started to see the outlines of my scholarly role within technical and professional communication: a person who goes into workplaces to report back on current communication practices. At the same time, I aim to present a well-rounded view of these practices by including the viewpoints of groups not normally included in research. So, I found myself at the crossroads of workplace writing, social justice, qualitative methods, and entrepreneurship. However, these are not my only areas of research. I also am interested in design thinking as a pedagogical tool and workplace design process as well as open access and academic publishing.

Here is a list of all of my peer-reviewed publications. All of this information as well as links to the publications can be found on my Google Scholar Profile.
