Below, you will find a list of the classes I have taught over my 7 years of teaching with some additional details about each course.

Texas Tech University

ENGL 3365 – Professional Report Writing

The purpose of ENGL 3365 is to prepare students for writing as a professional in a variety of workplace settings. This course focuses on developing evaluation, informational, recommendation, and visual reports. Basic skills for this class include the collection, analysis, translation, and presentation of data, as well as principles of effective writing and information design.

ENGL 3366 – Style in Technical Writing

ENGL 3366 course focuses on effective writing style. It will cover topics such as developing an effective and personal voice, avoiding overwriting and underwriting, choosing effective and fresh words, avoiding clichés, choosing and foregrounding clear subjects and lively verbs, naming definite actors and actions, making sentences connect, assigning emphasis, controlling rhythm, achieving grammatical variety, and applying general principles of effective writing.

Purdue University

ENGL 505 – Professional Writing Practicum (2 sections)

Developed curriculum and cotaught class sessions with the Professional Writing team for this pedagogy and theory practicum for new instructors.

ENGL 421 – Technical Writing (2 sections)

Taught in both face-to-face and online format. Students designed and revised sets of multimodal documents mostly in teams, using InDesign or Canva.

ENGL 420E – Business Writing for Entrepreneurs (3 sections)

Taught in both in face-to-face and online format. Partnered with Purdue’s Office and Technology Commercialization and management faculty to develop a curriculum.

ENGL 420 – Business Writing (2 sections)

Developed curricula and taught in face-to-face format. Students learned rhetorical theory, research skills, visual design, project management, and created job materials.

ENGL 106 – Introductory Composition (2 sections)

Developed curricula and taught in face-to-face format. Students learned writing skills and genres related to writing in the academy.

The University of New Mexico

ENGL 219 – Technical Communication (1 section)

Developed a curriculum and taught this course in online format.

ENGL 111 & 112 – Basic Writing 1 & 2 (2 sections)

Developed a curriculum and taught a group of students who had low writing scores on the ACT over the course of 1 academic year.

ENGL 110 & 120 – Accelerated Composition 1 & 2 (5 sections)

Developed curricula and taught these first-year writing courses in face-to-face format.
